Cooked breakfast. Bacon and eggs. Had a coffee at the caravan park.

First day since we started where there was no wind. Began slowly. John had got away at least an hour maybe more before us. There was a rest stop half way to Katherine and to my surprise he was there. It was warm so we lingered at the stop. John again left before us, but Vero decided to punch it and I decided to go with her. We quickly ran John down and left him behind. Pierre joined in and we time trialed the second 50kms into Katherine. Felt great. The longest, fastest interval of the trip. Did the 105kms in under 5 hours and the last 50kms in under 2 hours.

[A side note. No matter how fast Vero and I rode Pierre was always considerably faster. He would often drop back as we rode steadily on to the point that he was out of sight somewhere back down the road. Then in a flash he would be beside us again and moving incredibly quickly.]

First thing we did after coming into Katherine was stop at the BP service station so Vero could get internet. After an hour or so of catching up on email and facebook we crossed the road to do some shipping for the next few meals. We then made our way to the Riverview caravan park.

Turned out that John was set up next to us.

Also turned out that the 5 caravan convoy that we had come across at the Marryat rest stop just north of Marla were set up not far from us in the park. They went out for tea, but afterwards found us in the camp kitchen and insisted on doing something for us - us now included John. We agreed they could put on a bbq for us the next evening.

Another good day.

The plan was to stay in Katherine for two days.

,,,go to days 34 and 35 - June 12-13
