...the 1 Myall shack because it is at 1 Myall and shack because since I have lived here it has been referred to as the beach shack in the hills. Shack because of its similarity to those modest holiday shacks quite a few of us have had in our lives - an admirable quality I hope it will keep - and beach because it has jokingly been said that one day when global warming kicks in the sea will lap at its boundary and it will then be a very desirable beach front property.

The intention is to use this site to document the changes about to be undertaken at 1 Myall; changes in keeping with a greener outlook. As such, OneMyallShack is intended to be a help for others wanting to do similar things. Things such as light earth construction, earth floors, reed bed filtration systems and dry stone walling. Not only will it be a how-to, it will also profile those who contributed their skills, expertise and useful products; the builder, the electrician, the plumber, the quarry and so on.

It is also hoped to include other interesting projects in the neighbourhood and from further afield. Some have already been identified, but no doubt others will come to light.

There is one acknowledement to make. An important moment on the path to here was coming into possession of Alistair Knox's book Living in the Environment. It is an exciting, inspiring story of how to creatively put a roof over your head.

Thanks to the many who have given help along the way.
