After brekkie the other trikers came over with their trikes and the information exchange started.

He (Justin) was American, she (Cher) was Chinese. They had met in the USA when she was studying. She had been looking for accommodation and he had a spare room. She went back to Hong Kong after a year. He said he would follow and she said he wouldn't. He followed her. They are now married. He is an English Literature teacher. She trained as a lawyer, but doesn't want to pursue law as a career.

Their journey began in October 2013. They had ridden down from Hong Kong through Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Indonesia was too much for them. Too crowded, too polluted, too dangerous. They cut it short in Java and went too Bali for a month organising their visas for Australia. They flew to Darwin and had ridden south. From Tennant Creek they wanted to go east across the Barkley Highway to Townsville. From there it would be down the east coast. Along the way their would be a stop to do some rock climbing. Eventually they intended to fly to New Zealand and do some further riding.

Cher had studied in New Zealand for six months and had come away with a good impression. They were considering moving there.

They have given themselves one and a half years to complete the journey. At the time of our meeting they had ridden about 10,500 kilometres.

,,,go to day 25 - June 3

P.S. After exchanging stories we went for a ride into town for a coffee. Somewhere along the way the question of what to call a collection of trikes was raised. Justin suggested it should be called a triumph. Everyone agreed.
