It did happen. On the road by 7:30 and set a good time to Barrow Creek. What a place. It looks like nothing had been done to it since dad, Ian and I were there in 1966. It is falling apart and there is junk everywhere. Pierre loved it. Still got brekkie. Cereal, toast and a cup of tea for me. Threw in a coke to top up. You don't want to be too squeamish about cleanliness.
On getting back on the road the headwind appeared, but still made another 40kms and a rest stop by soon after 12:00. More good water at the rest stop.
Soon after leaving the rest stop there was a sign that told us there were only 50 kms to Wycliff Well. It was only 1:00 and the wind had changed to be coming from behind us. It would be a doddle and we Reached Wycliff Well at 3:30.
Easy setup, shower and tea. What I came to look for was a nice patch of grass and soft ground so it was easy to push in the tent pegs. The Wycliffe Well caravan park had a lot of this to offer.
The plan is to get going early again and have brekkie at Wauchope, which is about 18kms down the road. Then on to Tennant Creek, which is about 130kms from here. Big day, but the TV weather forecast appeared to indicate a tailwind. Fingers crossed.
,,,go to day 23 - June 1
