I woke at 6:00 when the generators fired up. Got up and woke Pierre. We went to the roadhouse for a cuppa. Vero seemed to want to sleep.
We got on the road just before 9:00 and covered the first 25kms in an hour and had done 73kms in just over 4 hrs. It felt quick. We rode the last 40kms to Glendambo non stop. All up we had ridden113 kms by 4:00. It seemed a major achievement.
Glendambo was essentially two service stations with roadhouses and a big pub that could be a converted shearing shed. I don't know how any of them make a profit. The caravan park is attached to the pub and it is falling apart.
The wide shoulder that we had used from Pt Augusta ends just outside Pimba, but so do most of the road trains. Seems like most of them turn off at Pimba for Roxby.
...go to day 9 - May 18
