First thing to be done is the steel work; large posts and beams made up by Chris and mostly man-handled into place. Barry, Chris' neighbour on one side, helped mightily preparing the steel and Andrew, Chris' neighbour down the gully, who is building his own place, helped out with advice and equipment. Soria did a lot of painting.

A retaining wall was needed. It had to be done in two pours. Getting the formwork ready for the first pour took months. The weather for the first pour, once again, was kind. It was a long, hard day. Fair to say at the end of it all Chris was knackered.
